About me
My practice as a therapist stretches back 15 years, across settings including healthcare, education, community and workplace counselling. While working for a Children’s Service in 2009 I helped develop and deliver a one-to-one gardening therapy service for disengaged adolescents. I have been in private practice in London since 2012, working from clinics in London Bridge and West Norwood.
I am also a musician and before becoming a therapist had a long career in the music business. This gives me a unique insight into the mental, emotional and physical demands of working in the creative and entertainment industries.
As a therapist, my core training is in person centred therapy with additional specialist qualifications in existential therapy, trauma, PTSD and body-based therapies.
Since February 2023 I have been studying Compassionate Inquiry, Gabor Mate’s trauma-healing therapy approach – this is a talking therapy which invites us to hold space for all the different ways that our minds, bodies and nervous systems have adapted following experiences of past trauma. Compassionate Inquiry aims to resolve those parts that may have become stuck, allowing you to grow into the person you want to be, free and at peace with yourself.
This type of therapy is slightly more structured but if you choose to try it, you are always in the driving seat and I will be right beside you, guiding you and checking in with you to keep you grounded in the present.
I am registered and accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (you can view the framework here). I undertake regular professional training to maintain high standards in my practice, have regular clinical supervision and am fully insured.
